The other section about not worrying about life loss (Ancient Tomb), means that you've causing 3 life lost if you put it in play (due to Ob Nixilis) due to losing 2 when you tap it; you're still a head in the game.

The Gauntlet/Urborg combo means this: they can still tap for what ever mana they normally could since it doesn't change the type of land (it's a swamp in addition to it). Since they couldn't add that mana because of the General rule, they don't get two colorless (I believe that's how it works).

How does Ob Nixilis gain you life? You mention it a few times but other than carrying a Loxodon Warhammer I don't see it happening.

And I was wondering how Gauntlet of Power and Urborg interact when your opponent's general isn't black. Do they tap their 'swamps' for black mana and thereby trigger the Gauntlet which is then filtered to net two colorless mana? Or do they tap for colorless mana when they attempt to make use of their 'swamp' and therefore never trigger the Gauntlet which specifically asks for the chosen color?

I think it's the latter but I'm not sure.

(Lens asks for names so that interaction is simple)

Sure, I've been trying to work an EDH deck with Body Double and the Granduer deck. While you can only play one General with the Grandeur ability, you can still run a normal EDH deck while using engine. I think it has to take a little more work then what you've written, it is still possible, but is the Korlash engine worth it (Baru might be the better one).

Obviously just a nitpick, but I have been working on an EDH deck for a while, where it is possible to use Korlash's Grandeur ability to power landfall. First of all, there are two methods in my UGB Landfall deck with which to trigger Korlash's grandeur ability. They both revolve around Oversold Cemetery.

After achieving the condition on Oversold Cemetery, you can return Korlash to your hand every turn. Then you discard him to the Korlash on the table, and there you go.

How do you have another Korlash in EDH, you ask? Simple...kind of. One is to get Korlash into the graveyard. Then you can copy him with Body Double and discard him to the cloned version. The other way involves playing Sakashima the Impostor targeting Korlash, and then bouncing him. I play a swamp heavy build of BUG, but its certainly possible to play in a two-color deck, as well...possibly Dralnu.

Yeah I misread Extraplanar Lens, so you're totally right there. I'm still not completely sold on Gauntlet of Power, but I see where you're coming from.

Thank you for your prompt reply. :)

I am assuming that your reasoning for asking this question is because Urborg makes each land into a swamp?

Lets take the two cards one at a time:

1. Extraplanar Lens: This card only recognizes lands based on their name. As such, if I exile a Snow-Covered Swamp with it, it will only cause other lands whose original name is "Snow-Covered Swamp" to produce the additional mana. As such, even if the opponent controls a Snow-Covered Land of another type (say a forest for example) when I play Urborg, this land will not be transformed into a Snow-Covered Swamp. It will merely be transformed into a "swamp" As such it will not produce the additional mana from the Lens.

2. Gauntlet of Power: This one is a bit more tricky, because it produces additional mana whenever a basic land is tapped for the choosen color it will affect enemy basic lands that are under the effect of Urborg. However keep in mind that the enemy has to be able to use Black Mana to get anything other than Colorless mana from this additional mana. Otherwise they might as well just ignore the boost.

Finally there is the fact that these are each just one card out of 99 total cards. Searching for them, while possible, is not a high priority as they are not major answers for the deck.

Is it really wise to use Extraplanar Lens / Gauntlet of Power together with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth?

But other than that detail, this article was of great assistance to me. Keep up the nice work! :D
